I am often hired to pull a legal rabbit out of a hat.

Bring me your boxes, and I will set them aside and look at your problems with fresh eyes and an inquisitive mind.  Sometimes you need innovative, creative, original solutions.  I like to blaze new trails, as shown by the successful appeal and published opinion in Williams v. Lifestyle Lift Holdings, Inc., 175 Wn. App. 62 (Division 1, 2013).

I live near Mount Vernon, WA.  This corner of the Pacific Northwest is my home.  I enjoy our local Farmers Market, our community, and our great outdoors.  When I need a break from the practice of law I am often speed hiking up the slopes of Mount Baker or in the North Cascades.

I graduated from the University of Washington — B.A. Economics cum laude, and J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law in 2002.  I had the honor to serve as editor of the prestigious Washington Law Review.  I studied Washington law and practice Washington law.  I am a member of the Skagit County Bar Association, a member of the Washington State Bar Association since 2002, and admitted to practice in Federal Court, Western District of Washington.

In order to become a better trial lawyer, I started my career serving as Bailiff to the Honorable Judge Carol A. Schapira in King County Superior Court.  I carefully observed hundreds of criminal and civil trials, while interacting with hundreds of jurors and dozens of attorneys.  I saw the good, the bad, and the ugly, and made note of it.

I have attended a number of cutting edge seminars on trial techniques, including seminars with the Trial Lawyers College (r).  I enjoy learning new ways, better ways to advocate for my clients.  Technology is my hobby, and I fully embrace any technology that will help me be a better advocate for my clients and a better communicator.

I don't speak legalese.  You need clarity and sound legal advice, not jargon.  I will answer your complex legal questions in plain English, and I will make sure that you clearly understand your options.  I will give you sound legal advice in a language that you can understand.

I feel at home with people of different cultures and backgrounds.  I will make sure that we can understand each other and that I can answer all of your questions.  In addition to English I am also fluent in Italian, French, and conversant in German.
